Funding & Grants: Counselling Grants Scheme
The Family Support Agency, under the aegis of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, administers a scheme of grants to voluntary organisations providing marriage, child and bereavement counselling services.
A total of €10.6 million was allocated in 2011 with 608 organisations benefiting from the scheme. Grants were awarded to a wide variety of organisations from large counselling bodies to schools operating rainbows groups for children to bereavement support groups based in local parishes.
N.B. The closing date for receipt of applications for the 2012 scheme is Friday February 24th at 5.30pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

€9.3 million in grants is available to be distributed.
The focus of the Scheme of Grants is on the development of support services in the community for families to enhance stability in family life and to assist families and their members deal with difficult periods, which they may experience. The aim is to ensure a larger and more accessible service, to ensure the highest level of service possible and that the service is delivered at low cost to the client.
The grants are available to support activity in the areas of:
- Marriage / Relationship Counselling
- Marriage Preparation Courses
- Child Counselling in relation to parental separation
- Bereavement Counselling and Support on the death of a family member
Who Can Apply?
Voluntary Organisations providing:
- Marriage/ relationship counselling to help people deal with difficulties they experience in their relationships
- Marriage preparation courses
- Counselling services to children whose lives have been affected by parental separation
- Bereavement counselling and support to families on the death of a family member
- Rainbows Programme
2011 Activity Report (only applies to groups funded in 2011)
The majority of groups funded last year under the Counselling Grant Scheme were sent an Activity Report in June 2011 for completion in January 2012.

N.B All Activity Reports must be received in the Agency on or before 5.30 pm on Friday the 24th February, 2012 along with your Grant application form if not already sent in.
